Career Options:

This degree prepares students for licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the state of California, at the Advanced Registered Respiratory Therapist level.

Career opportunities include positions in hospitals, physician’s offices, home health care services, and medical supply companies.

Advising Notes:

  • Students can substitute ESLW 340 for ENGWR 300/480.
  • It is highly recommended that students complete all of their general education coursework prior to enrolling in the program.

Scheduling Notes:

  • RC 110, 111, 130, 131, and 132 are offered in the spring.
  • RC 123 is offered in the summer.
  • RC 121, 122, 124, 140, and 142 are offered in the fall.

Other Notes:

  • Students must have a high school diploma, GED, CHSPE or higher to enter the program. Information about the program and pre-enrollment applications may be found in the college catalog.
  • The Respiratory Care program currently accepts students once per year for the spring semester, which begins in January. The deadline to submit an application is the second Friday in October.
  • To enroll in this program, students must have a cumulative college GPA of 2.0 and a cumulative GPA of 2.5 in the following prerequisite courses, passing each course with a “C” or better: AH 110, BIOL 430, BIOL 431, BIOL 440 or 442.
