Career Options:

The field of interior design offers a variety of career options, including residential design by itself, or with a specialty such as universal design, green/sustainable, smart-home, home office, and home theater design.

It also offers commercial design, which can include ADA compliance, hospitality design, set design, and contract space planning.

Advising Notes:

  • Students can substitute ESLW 340 for ENGWR 300/480.

Scheduling Notes:

  • IDES 310, 324, and 332 are offered in the fall.
  • IDES 312, 334, 350, and 351 are offered in the spring.

Other Notes:

  • This degree can be started in the spring as well. See a counselor to adjust the course work.
  • An internship (WEXP 498) is required as it opens up potential employment opportunities. Students can earn at least 1 unit for related paid or unpaid work experience including volunteer and internship positions through WEXP 498. This course also works toward satisfying GE Area IIIb.   • By the end of the third semester, students qualify for the Interior Retail Merchandising certificate.
