Transfer path

Potential Transfer Majors:

The courses in this roadmap prepare students to transfer into the precredential Liberal Studies B.A. program at Sacramento State University. With minor changes, they also prepare students for the Child Development Integrated Pre-Credential Subject Matter Program at CSUS.

Potential Career/Options After Completing a Bachelor's Degree:

The pre-credential programs at CSUS prepare students to become K-8 or special education teachers in California.

Advising Notes:

  • This degree can be completed using either the local AA/AS general education (GE) pattern or the Cal-GETC transfer GE pattern. See a counselor to determine which pattern is best for you based on your academic goals.
  • All of the required and restricted elective courses in this roadmap a rticulate with courses required for the Liberal Studies program at CSUS.
  • This roadmap does not include all of the lower-division GE or Liberal Studies major requirements for CSUS. See ASSIST.ORG for a complete list of all of the courses at ARC that articulate with courses in the CSUS Liberal Studies program.
  • CSUS requires students to take both HIST 307 and 308 for the Liberal Studies B.A.
  • Students can substitute ESLW 340 for ENGL C1000/C1000H (formerly known as ENGWR 300/480).
  • Transferable Elective Courses: any elective courses numbered 300-499, or having a 4-digit number starting with C.
  • ECE 401 and 404 are not required for this degree or for the CSUS Liberal Studies program, but they provide essential background in working with students with different needs. They are also required for the CSUS teacher credential program.
  • Students interested in the Child Development program at CSUS should also take ECE 314.
  • The CSU system requires every student receiving a bachelor\'s degree to be knowledgeable about the Constitution of the United States, American history, and state and local government. This requirement is generally known as the American Institutions requirement. Students can complete this requirement at ARC before transferring. The list of approved courses can be found on the ARC website.
  • To graduate from CSUS, students need to complete two semesters of college foreign language coursework. This requirement can also be met by completing three years of high-school foreign language coursework with a C- or better in the final semester, or by passing the CSUS foreign language proficiency test.

Scheduling Notes:

  • ENGED 320 and 324 are offered during the day on weekdays in the fall and spring. They involve working with elementary students at a nearby partner school. Students are responsible for providing their own transportation to the partner school site.
  • ECE 350, ENGED 324, and ENGED 320 include 40-50 hours of fieldwork at an approved elementary school setting. In order to work at school sites, students must complete the clearance process required by each school, which typically includes fingerprinting for a background check. Proof of certain vaccinations or a clear TB test may be required as well.
  • ECE 404 is offered every semester and must be taken before or concurrently with ECE 401 (the lab portion of the class). ECE 401 is only offered in the fall.

Honors Courses (H):

Students with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or better who complete 15 or more units of Honors coursework earn an Honors Transfer Certificate and can take advantage of honors-to-honors transfer agreements with highly selective colleges and universities, both public and private.
