Theatre Arts AA-T Degree

This program is designed for students who plan to transfer to a campus of the California State University (CSU).  Other than the required core, the courses you choose to complete this degree will depend to some extent on the selected CSU for transfer.  For students wishing to transfer to other universities, the AA-T may not provide adequate preparation for upper-division transfer admission; it is critical that you meet with a CRC counselor to select and plan the courses for the major, as programs vary widely in terms of the required preparation.

Theatre Arts encompasses artistic, organizational, and technical skills that prepare you for a variety of careers within the discipline of theatre but also which extend outside of the arts. Theatre is the most collaborative of all artistic disciplines bringing actors, dancers, singers, musicians, directors, choreographers, set/lighting/sound/projection designers, agents, managers, historians and dramaturgs, graphic designers, stage and production managers, producers, and administrative professionals together to make theatre. Performance skills like public speaking, critical thinking, and text analysis apply beyond theatre, as do technical skills like construction, electrical engineering, and event design. Theatre Arts is an ideal course of study for anyone who loves a challenging and diverse work day that centers creativity and problem-solving.
