Honors students who complete 15 units or more in honors-designated courses will earn special recognition as an Honor Scholar, a distinction that may entitle students to enhanced transfer and scholarship opportunities at select transfer colleges and universities. Honors students should meet regularly with an Honors faculty advisor to ensure completion of Honors Scholar requirements in a timely fashion. Courses that qualify as part of the Honors Program are listed below. Honor courses are limited to Honors Program students.
1. No Honors courses must be taken consecutively or in a specific sequential order.
2. Some Honors courses (ENGL C1000H, STAT C1000H, PHIL 486, MATH 483, and MATH 484) have course-level prerequisites.
3. Only students in the CRC Honors Program are eligible to take CRC Honors courses.
4. To be eligible for the Honors Certificate, students must complete at least 9 units of CRC Honors coursework and an additional 6 units of CRC Honors-approved coursework. CRC Honors-approved coursework includes CRC Honors coursework, honors coursework at other Los Rios Colleges, and up to one 400’s-level Los Rios STEM course.
5. Not all CRC Honors Program course offerings are indicated for each semester they are available. Courses typically offered in, but not recommended for, a particular semester are not indicated.
The Zero Textbook Costs designation and logo are added to any course that provides free access to all required instructional materials. These are typically shared with students through Canvas. Courses that are designated as ZTC may still require students to purchase supplemental materials such as lab coats, a calculator, art supplies, etc. See full definitions and searching tips on the Zero Textbook Costs page of the college website.
