The English major offers courses in literature, composition, and creative writing designed to enhance communication skills, deepen cultural awareness, provide a breadth of knowledge appropriate for many degree and career education programs, and prepare students for transfer to four-year institutions and a baccalaureate major in English or related majors.

Career opportunities for those who have earned BS or BA degree in English include but are not limited to advertising, business, civil servant, columnist/journalist, contract specialist, editor/evaluator, information special, insurance, interpreter, lexicographer, legislative assistant, librarian, manager, methods analyst, program developer, public relations, publisher, researcher, teacher, technical writer, writing consultant.

Honors option:

The CRC Honors Program is designed specifically for academically accomplished students and for students with the potential for high achievement. Students who complete 15 units or more in honors-designated courses will earn special recognition as an Honors Scholar, a distinction that may entitle the student to guaranteed transfer and scholarship opportunities at select transfer colleges and universities.
