CRC’s Design curriculum offers introductory and intermediate-level courses in drawing, painting, 2D design, 3D design, digital arts and new media, color theory, and printmaking, as well as courses in art history. Through the program’s art theory and art practice courses, students develop an awareness and understanding of the materials, tools, rationale and significance of art in society.
Individuals with a Design A.A. degree may have a professional fine art studio practice, K-12 education fields, arts administration within commercial or institutional museums, galleries, and community arts as registrars, designers, preparators, educators, and curatorial staff. Individuals may also work as graphic artists or designers, concept artist, game artist, web designer, printmaker, illustrators, digital artists, tattoo artist, framers, art handling/shipping, and other commercial work such as photography. Advanced degrees in art may lead to careers as educators at the college or university level, industrial designers, new media arts, animators, art therapy, art directors, art editors, curators, conservators, and restorers for museums and galleries. Career opportunities require more than an associate degree.
